Welcome! Teen volunteers (ages 15 and older) who love art and enjoy working with younger kids are invited to apply as a Teaching or After Care assistant for Summer Art Camp. Volunteer hours count towards High School requirements, Bright Futures, and National Honor Society.

• Work with kids ages 6-14, and local artist instructors in a different creative theme each week
• Improve your leadership, teaching, painting, drawing, sculpture, and team building skills

Policies, Duties, and Code of Conduct for Summer Art Camp Volunteers
You and your work is so important to this program and we want all participants to have a wonderful summer. Please read and check the box indicating that you understand and agree to the following rules. We find that our volunteers have more fun when they know what's expected and feel prepared.
Arrive promptly at 8:15 am on teaching assistant days for setup and before care, or at 3 pm for After Care hours with the campers. *

Assist students and teacher with setting up supplies and projects. As a role model and participant, create  projects with the campers, not for the campers. It is important for the camper to gain confidence and learn a sense of accomplishment. *

Your first PRIORITY is the success of the campers. You will be assigned to a small group of campers each week and be aware of and stock their supplies and help their teachers as needed. *

We are a HALF FULL Camp! From water to wash brushes to paint, kids spill so use small amounts of paint, glue, water, etc. Do not waste costly supplies - it is better to refill than throw out. *

Keep it clean. At the end of each day, tables, work areas, floors, etc. will be cleaned according to a check list (quick work if cleaning is also done during the day). *

Cell phones are not allowed in the classrooms and should be left in purses, bags, or front desk. Ask the teacher for a short break for emergencies. *

Appearance and Language: wear paint clothes that are comfortable and follow school dress codes (no short shorts, low cut tops, bare midrifts, etc.) Wear only closed-toe shoes. Your camp T-shirt may be worn as well. Watch your language and subject matter when speaking around campers. *

Learn student names and accompany young children to and from the restroom areas (no more than 2 at a time). There is no running or touching artwork in the gallery. Name tags will be worn each day. *

First Aid/Accidents: Any incident or accident, big or small, should be reported to the teacher immediately.  This includes injuries, illnesses, bullying, behavioral issues, etc. There are first aid kits in each classroom. *

Stay on Art Center grounds unless there is an emergency and after informing teacher/camp director. Assistants and campers will only be allowed to leave with authorized adults. *

No bullies or violence. Campers will be sent home with warnings and/or permanently if the behavior is not corrected on the third incident. Parents will be notified of all incidents. Please inform the staff if your child is being bullied ASAP so that it can be addressed. Camp fees are not refundable. *

Bring your lunch, snacks, utensils and refillable water bottle. Refrigeration and microwave are not available. *

Notify us as soon as possible, and stay home if in the past 24 hours, you have experienced any of the following symptoms: fever (>100.4°F), cough, sore throat, runny nose, headache, shortness of breath, vomiting, diarrhea or dizziness.  . *

Although masks are recommended, but not required, this policy may change. For the health and safety of volunteer, campers, and staff, I will follow the policies announced at that time. *

We ask everyone to abide by these rules and code of conduct. Yes, you are a volunteer, but your role is so important that we ask that you think of it as a job and act accordingly. If you are not able to adhere to these guidelines, we will not be able to sign off on your volunteer hours and you may be asked to leave the program. A positive experience for all campers, teachers and TA’s is our goal, and you are a valued part of that experience. Please be a leader and a positive role model for the children who learn by example and will inevitably look up to you!
