Blue-Green Infrastructures for Sustainable Urban Ecosystem
World Environment Day (WED) is the UN led global event celebrated annually on 5 June. WED has been a global platform to thousands of communities worldwide in raising awareness on pressing environmental issues and advocating actions for a cleaner and safer environment globally.

In line with this year’s WED theme “Ecosystem Restoration”, We are inviting mapping enthusiasts and communities to contribute to the identification and mapping of existing blue (water elements - rivers, ponds, wetlands, canals, water treatment facilities) and green (trees, parks, forests, fields, lawns, open spaces) infrastructures in core urban areas of the rapidly urbanizing cities in Kathmandu and Hetauda.
The data on these infrastructures mapped in Open Street Maps can be easily accessible when needed and can thus support the restoration efforts and urban planning by the concerned authorities of the urban centers. Also, our team members have been collaborating with some urban municipalities and are working on a long term BGI initiative.
