Our program is structured as 5-week sessions that occur three times during the school year: fall, winter and spring. Our sessions are designed to target critical times during a student's school education to uplift students, giving them the confidence and motivation to succeed in their school classroom. Although homework help is always needed, our program emphasizes creative and interactive reading, art, design, building and technology. We believe that these enriching activities give students a break from their academic curiculum from school, leaving them refreshed, joyful and confident in their abilities. 

The primary students are from the West Covina School District. Many of the students are underperforming in reading and math simply because they are disengaged from the material. This is where YOU, as a mentor can intervene and uplift the spirit of these bright young students. Whether you have experience teaching or not, we ask that you bring positivity, care, motivation and firmness. Keep in mind, these students are young and need guidance. You will have to evaluate how firm you can be with your students. Classroom setup can either be 2 mentors to 1 student, 1-to-1 or multiple students to 1 mentor, depending on attendance/absences.

All involved parties are unpaid volunteers, and all families are welcome absolutely free of charge, only with the word of mouth agreement that all parties will commit to attending the sessions they sign up for during the 5-week-long session. Each student is assigned his or her own personal tutor, so we are requiring families to attend all of the days of the session they commit to so that we can be courteous of your time.

We have refreshments, lounge areas, quiet areas and reliable internet access for any parties to use for work.
