Here is some important information regarding our 2024 course, some of this may be familiar to you.
We are delighted to inform you that the Westport School of English will run its summer programme this year from the weekend of Friday 28th of June to the weekend of Sunday 21st July (3 weeks). Groups of Spanish, Italian and French students are coming to Westport to attend English classes and learn about Irish culture. We would be delighted if you would consider hosting students again this year.
If you wish to host again this year, please complete the short form below carefully as the information you provide will be used to allocate students to your home.
We are very happy to inform you that once again we will be increasing our host family rate of pay to reflect the increase in the cost of living. Host families will be paid a rate of;
€230 per student per week.
All families will receive their payment for hosting on Thursday 18th of July a few days before their student(s) are due to return home to Spain / France / Italy.
Please note: All students are allocated to host families by their European agencies.
Other useful information:
Spanish students and a small number of French students will stay for 3 weeks i.e. they will arrive the weekend of Friday 28th of June.
Italian and the majority of French students will be staying for 2 weeks and will arrive for week 2 and week 3 of the course i.e. they will arrive on 6th/7th of July.
A small number of Italian students will be attending the course for 10 days to facilitate their exams in Italy. (11th - 21st July)
Students will be attending school and activities from 9.45a.m – 5 p.m. approx Monday – Friday.
Students will be transferred to and from school/activities daily by bus/car. Each host family will be issued a bus timetable on the week of their students’ arrival.
Saturday activities will be organised therefore students will be away from home for most of the day.
Once a week, students will attend a disco from 7pm-10pm. Buses will also collect and drop students home on these evenings.
Additional evening activities may be organised by group leaders.
Group leaders and teachers will accompany all students during their stay here. In the event of any emergency or query, please feel free to contact Kieran or Peter who will then liaise with the group leaders.
Students are to “fit in” with life in your home and abide by house rules.
Students will have to adhere to a strict code of conduct. Students will be obliged to be at home at designated times, depending on their age.
Host families will be made fully aware of the programme of activities in the weeks prior to student’s arrival and will be updated regularly via WhatsApp.
