Looking for a learning environment or childcare for your child over fall break? Kosasa Academy provides a program of engaging and effective instruction in a variety of subjects. Students may attend all day or for only part of the day. $30 registration fee due October 1st.

Course Descriptions

Independent Math Computer Games and Free Reading: A healthy breakfast is available for purchase for students arriving at 8 AM. Sign up for Independent Math and Free Reading only if you need childcare between 8 and 8:30.

Penmanship: Explicit instruction in the easy way to form letters in print and script will improve your child’s handwriting and increase confidence. This class reinforces sound/letter connections and is highly recommended for OG students.

Keyboarding: Students learn to keep their fingers on home row and type looking only at the screen.

Wake Up and Move!: All Block B students spend a few minutes stretching and moving to prepare for the academics of Block B.

Prescription Math: Each math student receives diagnostic pretesting to determine their specific needs. A multisensory math program is then custom designed to fill in gaps and move forward on a firm foundation. Students may take two Prescription Math classes.

Orton-Gillingham Phonetic Reading Instruction: Reading instruction that works! OG is the gold standard for reading instruction. Available to current and continuing students only.

Cooking Chemistry: Students have fun creating tasty dishes while learning the nutritional values of various foods and conducting experiments to discover chemical reactions in cooking. Please note there is an additional $25 ingredient fee.

Mealtime Manners for the Modern Child: Students learn dining decorum and practice table manners while enjoying the results of their culinary adventures. Burning quandaries such as which way to pass the food, when to pick up the napkin, and how to avoid drinking someone else’s water are solved!

KA provides nutritious lunches daily for only $6.50, or students may bring their own. Only students participating in Adventures in Art may stay for lunch.

Adventures in Art!: Young artists spend the afternoon learning about iconic artists such as Jackson Pollock and Vincent van Gogh, then employ the artist’s techniques in creating their own original artwork. Please note there is an additional $25 materials fee.

After School Care: If you need a later pickup time, just ask!
