CIT Application - Honey Creek Summer Camp
The Counselor-In-Training Program (CIT) offers an interactive experiential learning environment for teens entering 7th or 8th grade.  The CIT program is for teens who want to further develop their leadership and communication skills as well as gain experience in the planning and instruction of activities for young children.  The philosophy behind the program is to provide an inside view into how a camp runs, the responsibilities of those who run it, and the skills of a camp counselor.  CITs are provided opportunities to shadow counselors allowing them to observe, study, and practice the skills of camp counselors.  Many opportunities to try newly acquired skills are provided in a supportive environment designed to encourage the CITs' personal growth.  

Counselors-In-Training Duties:
*Help set up camp (upon availability)
*Plan and implement activities
*Work closely & positively with camp staff and other campers
*Be a positive role model
*Help younger campers and campers with special needs
*Assist in supervising children in all areas of the camp program
*Help with attendance throughout the day
*Share in the responsibility of monitoring the conduct of the campers
*Assist staff during pool time or water play time
*Help maintain gardens and other areas on site
*Role model positive listening and learning during classroom teachings

Counselors-In-Training Receive:
*First Aid & CPR Training
*Experience working with a team
        *A CIT notebook
*Classroom instruction & hands-on experience
*Quizzes on camp employment procedures
       *A paycheck: $1.00 an hour (maximum of $5.50/day), mailed out by October 1st of that year.
       *A Counselor-In-Training Certificate upon completion of the program

Requirements to be considered for a CIT position are as follows:
       *Campers must be at least entering the 7th grade in the fall they wish to become a CIT;
       *Campers must attend at least 20 days of summer camp;
        *Campers must submit this completed application by May 1st of the summer they wish to become a CIT.

Applicants will be notified as to whether or not they have been selected to participate in the CIT program NO LATER THAN MAY 9th of the summer they wish to become a CIT.

If you are interested in being a Counselor-In-Training, you must COMPLETE this application and submit it no later than May 1st of the summer you wish to be a CIT.
