What is the main idea of the book? What was it mainly about? The title might give you a clue.
List three facts or details from the text.
List four events from the text in the sequence (order) they happened.
Give one example of cause and effect from the text. Explain something that happened (effect) and the reason why it happened (cause).
Comparing and contrasting - Choose two main characters from the text (if it's a fiction text) or two things (eg. animals, objects, machines etc if it's a non-fiction text) and tell two ways these characters/things are the same and two ways they are different.
If the author was to write another book to follow on from this one, predict what it would be about and what might happen.
Choose one or two words from the text which you don't know the meaning of, and find the definition. Record your word(s) and definition(s).
Do you think the title for this book is a good one? Why or why not, explain your answer.
Write YOUR opinion of the book - how did you feel about it and why?
What was the author's purpose for writing this text?
