Accreditation
All Au Pair Intensives are conducted in person at the University of Montana's English Language Institute in Missoula, Montana.

Under the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, the University of Montana (UM) is an accredited US post-secondary educational institution. Additionally, UM's English Language Institute (ELI) is affiliated with the following organizations that uphold university-governed intensive English program standards: UCIEP, TESOL, and NAFSA.
Schedule
Each course is 3 credits, or 36 instructional hours, which follows university educational standards in the United States.

Considering road travel for au pairs across Montana and the Northwest region, the following schedule will be used for courses in 2023:

Pre-Assignments:
- 9 hours of content-based reading, writing, and listening homework
- 1 or 2 weeks prior to the course start date, you will receive an email invitation to Google Classroom, where you can access the homework
- all homework must be completed and submitted by the course start date  

Saturday:
- 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
- in-person classes at the University of Montana & surrounding area

Sunday:
- 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
- in-person classes at the University of Montana & surrounding area

Post-Assignments:
- 9 hours of final project requirements
- all final projects must be completed and submitted within 2 weeks of course finish date
- detailed feedback will be provided by university professors 
Course Completion Certificate
After attending all in-person hours and completing all required assignments, an official course completion certificate will be issued to you via email. With this convenient PDF format, you can easily submit it to your au pair agency.    

Certificates are issued within one month of the course finish date.

Pricing
Each 3-credit course costs $300.

Because of ongoing budget constraints and limited financial resources at the English Language Institute, please note that the pricing has increased since last year's courses.

Please also note that a participant minimum will be enforced this year. If less than 10 au pairs register for an Au Pair Intensive, then unfortunately, that course will be canceled. However, if 10 or more au pairs register for a course, then that Au Pair Intensive will run as planned. 

One week before the scheduled course, you will receive an email notifying you about that course's status. 
Tuition Includes
- lessons with English language professors
- seminars with guest speakers and industry experts
- course materials designed specifically for English language learners
- textbooks, novels, or memoirs related to the course themes
- official course completion certificate

Please Note: Tuition cost does NOT include travel expenses, lodging, or meals.

Cancellation Policy: Tuition refunds are not available at this time. 
Payment Information
Each 3-credit course costs $300, payable by personal check written to the "English Language Institute."

If you do not have personal checks, your host parents most likely do. They are required by the Department of State to contribute $500 toward your J-1 visa's educational component for 9- and 12-month terms, or $250 for a 6-month term. If you are experiencing any difficulty with your host parents regarding their financial contribution toward your educational component, contact your au pair agency immediately, for your host parents are in direct violation of guidelines set forth by the federal government of the United States of America.

Any au pair who does not pay for their course in person on Saturday morning will not be able to attend that weekend's Au Pair Intensive, and therefore, will not receive a course completion certificate.

On Saturday and Sunday, the course will begin and end at the International Center (IC building) on the University of Montana campus.

Parking is free on weekends in decal, reserved, and metered lots, unless specifically posted otherwise.
