Volunteer duties and descriptions:

Registration

Greet all people (contestants, parents, volunteers, etc.)
Check-in performers when they arrive, take their music and verify that the measures are numbered
Mark piece(s) with a tab/sticky note
Verify that score has no identifying marks of the student or teacher

Mostly seated. Requires reading/writing and friendly, calm disposition.

Door monitor

Ensure that the next performer is ready to go on before their performance (during the preceding contestant's performance)
Confirm that contestant has music ready for judges
Keep people from entering during performances and deliberations
Control noise outside the hall

Mostly standing and walking. Requires moving back and forth from warm-up space and recital hall.

Timekeeper

Sit near the judging panel and record the timings of each contestants pieces with a stopwatch that is started and stopped as a contestant begins/ends each selection(s)
Signal to the judges in the case that a contestant has gone over their time allotment.

Mostly seated. Requires use of silent stopwatch (smartphones have this feature). New this year: stopwatches that chirp or beep will not be permitted.
