Help Wanted: PTA Committee Chair Needs 2019-20

There are many ways to be involved at Windsor PTA. In this form, we are looking for people who are interested in serving on our board by chairing a committee. This is not the "Volunteer Interest Form". Being involved as a Board Member for a committee is a great way to make new friends that can last a lifetime! We value each and every minute you devote to our children and school community.

If you are a current board member (committee chair) and have already informed us of your intent to stay in a position, you do not need to complete this, unless you are interested in something new! We are collecting names through July 1st. At that point, the Executive Board will finalize the list of committee chairs and communicate positions to each of you.

Committee positions performed primarily from home or on your own set schedule.

These committee chair positions are open to anybody, but if you are looking for something you can fit into your busy day... then these are the jobs for you! There might be times when you have to come into school, but it is minimal. PTA meeting attendance is recommended.

MEMBERSHIP (SHADOW): Learn the ropes from a veteran membership chair. Assist with PTA membership records and distribution of membership materials. Good with spreadsheets. Busy time from spring to fall during active school registration. (Needs a Co-Chair)

RESTAURANT NIGHTS/DINE & SHARE FUNDRAISERS Co-CHAIR: Plan 4/year restaurant fundraisers (Needs a Co-Chair)

CULTURAL ARTS CHAIR: In partnership with Windsor and PTA, propose and book student assemblies for various forms of art, music and dramatics (in Fall/Winter & Spring). Can be done from home.

MIDDLE SCHOOL LIAISON: If you have a Middle school student, share what you learn at their PTA meetings and encourage attendance to SMS events for our 5th graders. Help coordinate efforts for a smooth transition to Middle School for students and parents. This is a sub-committee of the 5th Grade Committee.

Committee positions that are one-time events, usually done at school.

These committee positions have set days or nights. Those dates will be determined in May or finalized over the summer. There is some work that needs to be done before, during, and after the event. Most require recruiting and organizing volunteers. PTA meeting attendance is recommended.

KINDERGARTEN ACTIVITY NIGHT: Help plan and deliver a one (1) hour activity night for kindergartners (and a parent/guardian). Coordinate volunteers on that evening..

1st GRADE ACTIVITY NIGHT: Help plan and deliver a one (1) hour activity night for 1st graders. Coordinate volunteers on that evening.

RUNAPALOOZA FUNDRAISER CHAIR/Co-CHAIR: A more recent Windsor tradition that takes place in Oct. This person(s) would spearhead this fundraiser in conjunction with our 1st VP.

Multi-Day or Year-Long Committee Chair positions.

These positions have longer commitment needs. Some have events that take place within a week, some weekly, others monthly, and a few are scattered throughout the year. PTA meeting attendance is recommended.

5th GRADE COMMITTEE Co-CHAIR: Coordinate year long efforts including Camp Duncan (in the Fall) and remaining end of the year celebrations. By checking box, you are willing to help coordinate (co-chair) the ENTIRE committee. Sub-committees for each activity will be selected in the fall. (Needs a Co-Chair)

HOSPITALITY Co-CHAIR: Support staff and PTA members through dinners, treats, and beverages provided - by either PTA or parent donations - throughout the year. (Needs a Co-Chair)

JUNIOR GREAT BOOKS Co-CHAIR: Promote and deliver the Junior Great Books program (a high-quality literature, student-centered discussion, and activities supporting reading comprehension, critical thinking, speaking and listening, and writing skills in students in grades 1-5. Program runs for 8-weeks starting in late January. Organize parent volunteers for weekly small reading groups of students during lunch recess. (Needs a Co-Chair)

STUDENT PICTURES CHAIR: Work with Inter-State Studio/photographer and Yearbook committee to plan and organize three (3) picture dates (student, retakes, and club). Dates for 2019/20 are 9/24, 11/6, & 2/18. Need a chair for 2019 to take the reigns from last year's chair. Can be split by two parents - working parent and parent able to be at school on planned picture days.

FREE FUN EVENT CHAIR/Co-CHAIR: Plan a fun event for students/families on a day off of school (in April)

PARENT NIGHT CHAIR/Co-CHAIR (Bingo Night): Organize a parent only event for PTA (offsite)

D25 SCHOOL BOARD LIAISON CHAIR/Co-CHAIR: Attend school board meetings and report back (this can be shared). School Board meets monthly, their calendar can be found here (https://www.sd25.org/domain/41)

REFLECTIONS LOCAL REP CHAIR/Co-CHAIR: promote and support National Reflections program at Windsor. Manage local submissions in Oct and pass along to Council in Nov. Keep abreast of Reflections events activities throughout the year. Return projects to students at end of program. 2019 Theme: "Look Within".

COMMUNITY SERVICE/WINDSOR CARES CHAIR/Co-CHAIR: Plan various projects focused on volunteerism and serving or giving support to our local community.
