Dear CPRS District 4 Professional:

The California Park and Recreation Society (CPRS) District 4 Annual Awards and Volunteer Recognition Dinner will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at the new South San Francisco Library | Parks and Recreation Center. On this special evening, CPRS will honor outstanding individuals for their professional and volunteer contributions to the fields of parks, recreation and human services.

Please feel free to share this application with those in your agency who may not be CPRS members and make sure to coordinate applications within your agency since some categories are limited. You must obtain director/department head approval prior to your submissions. In addition, each application will require a photo which may be submitted after the fact; specific requirements will be detailed within individual applications.

Each award application costs $40 and will be reviewed by a committee chaired by District 4 board members. Dinner reservations are $48 per person. Recipients will be recognized at the CPRS District 4 Annual Awards and Volunteer Recognition Dinner on Thursday, May 9, 2024. All award applications are due by Tuesday, February 20, 2024. Payment is due upon receipt of invoice via email.

VOLUNTEER & SPONSOR CITATION - Presented to a person or organization whose voluntary contribution of time & effort to recreation, parks, and human services programs significantly improved services. (Non-competitive; unlimited submissions per agency)

PROFESSIONAL MERIT - Presented to full, part-time, contractual or seasonal employees who have made a significant contribution to their agency or the field of parks, recreation and/or human services. (Non-competitive; unlimited submissions per agency)

DISTINGUISHED PROFESSIONAL - District 4’s highest award, in recognition of lifetime achievement. It may be presented to a professional who has demonstrated leadership and initiative and has made significant contributions to CPRS and the fields of parks, recreation, and/or human services.(Competitive; one submission per agency)

AWARD OF EXCELLENCE - Recognizes outstanding projects or programs in the categories of Recreation Programming, Promoting Healthy Communities, Park Planning, Facility Design, or other related areas. Award of Excellence serves to recognize and promote agency successes, new creative approaches, and best practices. (Non-competitive; one submission per agency)

KEY TO THE COMMUNITY - A recognition that highlights the unique innovation demonstrated by D4 agencies.

RISING PROFESSIONAL - Rising Professional Award recognizes an individual who has contributed significantly to the profession in fields of parks, recreation and/or human services. The nominee will have 5 years or less of service in the professional. The nominee does not have to be a current CPRS member. Each agency may submit one (1) nomination.
