"Why is Howe adding the skill of music making to my child's education?" you ask.
Students who play an instrument have the opportunity to express emotion without words, be creative, and have fun socializing with friends, making memories that last a lifetime. When playing an instrument all areas of the brain light up with activity! Check out this fun YouTube video about the brain research:

Introducing Ms. Hunt, Howe's Band and Orchestra Teacher, 2022-23
Ms. Hunt's philosophy about educating beginning band/orchestra students: All children are born musical. I want to spark excitement for music making. I introduce skills so students can create and share their musical voice and enjoy making music with others. Musicians are creative thinkers and problem solvers. This is the time, while they are young, to strengthen these synapse pathways in the brain to be used in the future as a meaningful career, satisfying hobby, or lifetime appreciation of music.
Instruments that are available:
There is no cost to families to use a school instrument. Howe has enough band/orchestra instruments to lend to each 5th grader.
Please let us know below if you have your own or are planning on buying/doing lease-to-own/renting your own instrument this year.
