Managing the aftermath: the role of universities in responding to crises
Climate change, COVID-19, inequality, and diversity matters. Some of the many hues of a set of transboundary contemporary issues that are every day more noticeable. 2020 has been showing us how fragile our social fabric is when it is put to test amid issues fostered by anthropic actions on the biosphere. We are social distance due to a virus cooked in biodiversity devastation, and we are social clashing due to the prejudice of an underlining question that resurfaces from time to time to question our civilizational status.
In this context, what is the role of universities? What are the silver bullets fixes that higher education can provide for us? To discuss what is expected from universities, and how they are addressing the great challenges of our time the University of Sao Paulo (USP), Brazil, through its specialized centers for research, innovation, and diffusion are fostering the panel: “Managing the Aftermath: The Role of Universities In Responding To Crises”.

The meeting will count on the presence of Melissa Goodall, Sustainability Director from Yale University, Manfred Braune, Sustainability Director from Cape Town Univesity, Luciana Cezarino Head of UN-PRME Office at the Federal University of Uberlandia, and Lara Liboni, Visting professor at the University of Western Ontario.

The event will take place on 06th October, at 10 AM (EST) / 11 AM (BRA) with no more than 2 hours of duration. After the individual expositions, the panelists will answers questions from the public.
