Being a strategic adviser comes in many forms. In our work in analyzing great advisory relationships, we’ve identified five main approaches, which we have linked together via the analogy of a restaurant. The five approaches are pictured above.
We know great advice happens when three things are aligned: the natural style of the adviser, what the recipient wants, and what the project requires.
This questionnaire will help you explore your own advisory style. There are 30 questions in total. The survey should take you about 10-12 minutes to complete. Please note that the word 'client' in this context means any leader you are advising, whether an external client or an internal colleague.
