If you are a domestic student but have a similar experience to that of an international student in Australia, or are passionate about issues impacting upon international students' university experience and well-being, you are welcome to apply for an Associate Membership. Associate Membership allows you to have all powers possessed by an Ordinary Member, apart from power to vote at an election or a referendum conducted by ISD.
Section 4.3 of the ISD Constitution allows for non-international students at the ANU to acquire an 'Associate Membership'. This is for students who have a similar experience to that of an international student in Australia, or are passionate about issues impacting upon international students' university experience and well-being. Associate Membership allows you to have all powers possessed by an Ordinary Member, apart from power to vote at an election or a referendum conducted by ISD.
To acquire an Associate Membership, you must satisfy the following criteria (section 4.3.1):
a) Not currently an ordinary member (undergraduate or postgraduate international student with a temporary student visa);
b) Is a member of ANUSA; and
c) Submit a written application to a general meeting of the ISD and the application is approved by 50% of the general meeting.
