Set-Up and Cleaning Service Opportunities
Thank you all for your help with making St. Thomas happen! We are almost through with the first cycle of the cleaning rotation teams but are hoping to make some changes in the next few weeks to make the process easier and smoother for everyone. Only one member of each family should fill this out. Please answer the following questions with the knowledge that:

1) Your answers are not binding: we know life circumstances change, people travel, and unexpected things happen. If you need to change your commitment or type of service, short term or long term, that is totally okay and we are expecting this to occur. Whether you can't come on a given Sunday or larger life events require you to take some more time for you and your family, just let someone know (as specified below) so we can adjust our notes and can support you accordingly.

2) Communication is very important. Please reach out directly to Father Mark if you have concerns or questions about the system. Reach out directly to Janet if you have suggestions on how to improve the system or want to change your role. Reach out directly to your team if you know you aren't coming to a given Sunday or can't come last minute. This is just so volunteers can be recruited as needed. St. Thomas is a product of our community efforts and change can only happen if we are effective about letting people who can do something about it know when we need help or support, so don't be afraid to reach out.

3) There are different kinds of tasks involved in cleaning and setting up. If you consistently arrive early to Liturgy but can't stay late, it is totally fine for your contribution to only be making coffee, filling water pitchers, or making sure utensils are stocked in the various rooms. If you tend to need to arrive later but also stay late into coffee hour, you do not have to worry about pre-Liturgy tasks, just focus on coffee hour clean up. If you want to contribute consistently but can't stay very long after Liturgy, it is all right to sign up for a team and only do what you can. We are just trying to optimize the distribution of labor so everyone helps a little bit, as best they can.

4) Cleaning is an opportunity for service-- doing things we don't necessary like or enjoy for the well-being of our community-- and not an obligation or a punishment. We are grateful for your work and it is totally okay if plans need to change last minute for one reason or another. If everyone offers up what they can, it makes a big difference.
