Our volunteer opportunities are organized into the following 7 areas to choose from:

Youth & Children Ministries
Please check any of the following volunteer opportunities you would like to be involved with or help out:
ARK Wing & Nursery: Volunteers can serve as storytellers, greeters, or baby caregivers.
Children's Special Events: Volunteer for special events like Vacation Bible School, Easter Egg Hunt, and Breakfast with Santa.
Children's Worship: Serve as a storyteller or greeter during 9 or 11 am services.
College Ministry Team: We are forming a College Ministry Team. They will help us maintain our connection with Beargrass Youth after they leave.
Church Camp Buddies: Every year we send A LOT of students to Church Camp. Would you be willing to write a letter to a Beargrass Youth at camp?
Youth Transportation: We often need drivers for various events. Please sign up if you have a clean driving record and are willing to help transport to and from Youth Group events.
Youth Snack Masters: Teenagers are hungry ALL THE TIME! Would you be willing to bring in prepackaged snacks like chips or cookies for youth group? After signing up, we will contact you and schedule days to serve.
Youth Life Skills Classes: Do you know a life skill that every youth should know? Maybe you sew, or can help them learn tools, or cooking - the options are endless. Please sign up! Rob will contact you.
Youth Fundraiser: Each year Beargrass Youth has two major fund raisers to support mission trips (especially the international trip). Would you be willing to help with fundraising? A few of the projects include making gift baskets, seeking donations from area businesses, and serving at the event.
Education Ministries
Please check any of the following volunteer opportunities you would like to be involved with or help out:
Young Adult Ministry: We create community for young adults within Beargras's ministries.
Sunday School: Join a SS class and grow and serve with a small group.
Bible Studies: Join a Bible study and there will be opportunities for you to learn and serve.
Lent/Advent Devotionals: Write a devotion to be included in our Advent or Lent devotional book.
Library/History: Meets 1-2 hours occasionally.
Green Chalice: 1 hr/10 x/year, we have a Zoom meeting, and we meet 1 hr /4x/year after 9 am or 11 am service.
Care & Support Ministries
Please check any of the following volunteer opportunities you would like to be involved with or help out:
Health Ministry: Take blood pressure 1/month. Serve at blood drives 1-3x/year. Learn how to use AED.
Hospitality / Receptions: Set up, serve, and clean up following a variety of events from receptions to all church dinners.
Card Ministry: Send cards once a month to those on our concerns list.
Sunday Van Ministry: Church van drivers provide rides to worship on Sunday.
Provide a Ride: Provide rides to medical appointments, etc. for those who wouldn’t have transportation otherwise.
Funeral Meals: Provide meals for grieving families! Donate food or assist in the service and cleanup of the meal.
Prayer Blankets: Create blankets for those who are ill in the hospital or rehab.
Freeze & Feed: Lead or be part of a team that fixes frozen meals for pick up or delivery to church members who for whatever medical or other reason need just a meal or two instead of a meal train.
Worship & Music Ministries
Please check any of the following volunteer opportunities you would like to be involved with or help out:
Choir: Bringing God's gift of the power of music to worship experiences.
Praise Team: If you have musical talent, please consider leading worship songs or accompanying the praise team with a musical instrument. Work with your interest and availability!
Sacristy: Prepare communion and set the Lord's table...volunteer for either 9:00 or 11:00 service. Ideally, we will have 4 teams each serving 3 months of the year. Also, securing help for open dates.
Multimedia: Help with sound, video, and live-stream.
Creative Worship: Help enhance worship experiences at Beargrass. We meet every 2-3 months. You can also sign up to collaborate on specific times of year/services or to share your talents with the church.
Welcoming & Church Growth Ministries
Please check any of the following volunteer opportunities you would like to be involved with or help out:
Party People: Share your love of Beargrass and help us grow! Represent us at the booth during festivals, events, and more!
Welcome Desk Greeters: Connect with new people! Hand out gift bags and answer questions. Serve for 15 min. before/after an assigned service.
New Member Development: Help us welcome new members and make them feel comfortable as new members of our congregation.
Beargrass 101 Class Hosts: Help setting up Beargrass 101 classes led by Dr. Flowers. Shop for food and refreshments and help host this monthly meeting.
Welcome Desk Greeters: Give welcome and establish a relationship with first/repeat visitors. Maintain contact; encourage/answer questions about joining; and invite them to attend Beargrass 101. Up to 1-2 hours/week. Training provided.
Mission & Outreach Ministries
Please check any of the following volunteer opportunities you would like to be involved with or help out:
Farmers Market: Meet and welcome our neighbors by signing up to assist with parking & the Beargrass booth on Saturday mornings, May-September
Hands-On Service Projects: Projects include mission trips; refugee resettlement; Habitat for Humanity; LOU; you will be contacted as projects are initiated.
Racial Reconciliation: Join us and engage in our church's racial justice/equity journey.
Pedal Power: Join us to rehab bikes on a weekly basis for refugees, unhoused, impoverished, and similar ministries throughout Louisville.
Administration Ministries
Please check any of the following volunteer opportunities you would like to be involved with or help out:
Property: Plan/execute the care/improvement of our facility. Knowledge of building, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc., is helpful, not required.
Gardens & Grounds: Flower planting in the spring and monthly gatherings on church campus to weed and water selected landscape beds.
Interior Design: Select interior decor, furnishings and finishes for church campus. Lead the decor for Advent & holidays. We work w/Property Team.
Safety & Security: Provide a presence of safety in/around the building and campus during community gatherings.
Office Volunteers: Man the front desk and answer the phone in the church office. You can choose the schedule that work best for you!
Pew Crew: 1x/week we spend an hour or two refilling the pews ensuring there are sufficient supplies of pens, Connection Cards, etc.
