Provincetown Schools Acceptable Use Of Technology Agreement 2023/2024
The use of technology resources is a privilege, not a right. These rules are provided to make both students and educators aware of the responsibilities associated with efficient, ethical, and lawful use of technology resources. If you violate any of the rules named in this policy, privileges may be terminated, disciplinary action could be applied and any equipment cost reimbursed to Provincetown Schools.

STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Using school technology in a responsible and ethical manner. School technology is meant for use in the classroom and for school homework only.
Obeying general school rules concerning behavior and communication that apply to their school devices used in school or on a school trip.
Using school technology in an appropriate manner so as to not damage school equipment.

RULES FOR SOUND/MUSIC/VIDEO AND GAMES:
Sound must be muted at all times unless permission is obtained from the teacher for instructional purposes.
Music is allowed to be played on school technology but only at the discretion of the teacher.
Streaming Music and Video apps like Spotify/Soundcloud/Pandora/Netflix are not allowed on school technology.
Games are not allowed to be played on the school technology unless approved by teachers.
Students are prohibited from downloading apps and other software onto their school technology.

GENERAL ACCESS RULES:
Sending, accessing, uploading, downloading, or distributing offensive, profane, threatening, pornographic, or obscene materials is strictly prohibited. Spam-sending mass or inappropriate emails using student school accounts is strictly prohibited.
Gaining access to other student’s accounts, files, and/or data is considered a serious infraction of school technology rules.
Vandalism (any malicious attempt to harm or destroy hardware, software or data) will result in the loss of use of school technology.

COSTS:
Students/Parents/Guardians may be required to pay for repairs or replacement of their school device if it is damaged or broken due to lack of proper care. Please contact the Principal should any charges incurred prove to be a hardship. Damages and any other incidents involving school technology MUST be reported to the school Technology office right away. Lost, stolen or questionable damage will be reviewed by the administration on a case-by-case basis to determine fees due.
