Swimming Carnival Rules

Age: Age for all events will be determined by the age a swimmer turns on or before the 31 December, 2023.

Individual Champions: These will be decided on the number of points accrued in all events. Ages are as follows:

Sub Junior - 7 and under
Junior - 8 – 10 years
Senior - 11 and 12 years

Champions and runner up for each individual age group will be awarded.

Open Events
Points for all Open events will be awarded from 1st place to last place, regardless of age.

Age Events
Whilst it may be necessary to combine age groups into the one race to better utilise the pool, points will be awarded based on 1st to last in individual age groups.

NCSA Representative swimming
Only swimmers competing in 50m and 100m events and who are 8 years and older will be considered for representative swimming.

Criteria for Senior and Junior Girl and Boy Champions:
For children to be eligible to receive the Senior or Junior boy or girl champion, they must enter, and complete, a minimum of three races, of which 2 must be 50m events. Relays are additional and do not contribute towards the three races.

Nominating for Events
  • PLEASE enter your child in the race if they are doubtful about going in an event. It is easier to scratch them on the day rather than try to add them to the event.
  • For the smooth running of the day, Years 4 and 5 will not be allowed to enter extra events that they have not nominated for prior to the carnival day.
  • Students who are in Year 4 or above are capable of swimming 50m (2 lengths of the TAS pool) should NOT nominate for the 25m freestyle but may enter other 25m events if not capable of completing 50m.
  • Students may only enter 25m OR 50m events in the same stroke, not both.
  • Students may enter only the 200 Individual Medley OR the 100 Individual Medley, not both.
  • Students in Year 3 or above are encouraged to enter at least 1 race.
  • Kindergarten students are encouraged to enter 25m freestyle and may use a kickboard if required.
  • If your child is only entering novelty events, please complete the form showing this.
  • Only students competing in one event or less are allowed to complete the novelty events.
