TOBACCO/NICOTINE FREE SITE

Camp Gilbert recognizes and is dedicated to providing a healthy, comfortable, and safe environment for campers and volunteers. In accordance with this responsibility, it is the intent of the Camp Gilbert Board to establish a tobacco/nicotine-free environment that demonstrates a commitment to helping campers and volunteers resist tobacco/nicotine use and that emphasizes the importance of adult role modeling.

The use, possession, sale, or promotion of tobacco, nicotine, or vapor product, whether synthetic or natural, on site is prohibited. Camp Director and Medical Director will treat all forms of nicotine containing products or nicotine delivery devices, which may or may not include actual tobacco as a violation of this policy. This policy shall be always in effect on site and shall apply to all campers, volunteers, and visitors.

For the purposes of this policy:

1. “Tobacco” means any substance or item, in any form, containing tobacco/nicotine.

2. “Promotion” means the use or display of tobacco-related clothing, bags, lighters, or other material that is designed to encourage the acceptance or use of tobacco.

Campers and/or volunteers found in violation of this policy will be subject to appropriate consequences, which may involve a range of enforcement options including disciplinary action according to the Behavior Conduct Agreement and/or being sent home from Camp Gilbert.

Visitors in violation of this policy will result in appropriate sanctions as determined and imposed by the Camp Gilbert Director and Medical Director, which may include direction to leave the property.

ALCOHOL AND OTHER DRUG USE

A volunteer, camper or visitor shall not possess, use, distribute, transfer, conceal, sell, attempt to sell, deliver, nor be under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs or other drugs, whether synthetic or natural. Volunteers and campers shall not engage in alcohol and/or other drug use/abuse, nor possess paraphernalia specific to the use of alcohol and/or other drugs. Volunteers and campers shall not engage in the use of alcohol and/or other drugs.

Camper(s) and volunteer(s) found in violation of this policy will be subject to confiscation and appropriate consequences, which may involve a range of enforcement options including disciplinary action according to the Behavior Conduct Agreement and/or notifying Law Enforcement and being sent home from Camp Gilbert.
