While we'd love to offer the amazing world of horses to everyone—our top priority is SAFETY. Here are some important things to know about horses:

Horses MOVE!—While riding, horses provide movement to the rider. If movement will cause a decrease in the participant’s function, an increase in pain or generally aggravate a medical condition, it is not the activity of choice.
Horses require the use of certain equipment (ex: riding helmets) in an outdoor barn/farm environment. If equipment or the environment will aggravate a condition, horse-related activities may not be appropriate.
Mounted activities always present the potential for a fall. In most instances, the fall would be from four to six feet above the ground. The possibility of a fall should be given careful consideration, and riding may not be the activity of choice.
Working around equines involves risk. Even a well-trained horse is subject to its instinctive fight or flight responses. Horses are large, move quickly and can be dangerous to the participant who is unable to respond appropriately.
