In collaboration with Urban MBA and Youth First, 15 local young people will get an amazing opportunity to create their own comic stories in the second year of this exciting programme led by mayamada co-founder Nigel Twumasi. In addition to his role at mayamada, Nigel serves on the Mayor's Cultural Leadership Board and on the advisory committee for the Children's Media Conference.

Thanks to funding from BBC Children in Need, mayamada will be delivering Comic Story workshop sessions to young people in the London borough of Lewisham at the Woodpecker Youth Clubs in 2023.

Through creative storytelling, local young people will be able to let their imaginations loose and be positively empowered to tell their stories by making comics. They will discuss stories across comics, film, anime and manga before learning how to tell their own comic stories in a safe and fun environment.

These free workshop sessions would normally cost £250 per person but are being delivered free for young people in Lewisham. mayamada is a creative manga brand full of amazing characters and stories. Sessions will be led by the mayamada team who have exhibited at events and conventions across the world!
