Trail Running Leader Application

About Colour the Trails

Colour the Trails Trail Running Mentorship Program is a twelve week program in partnership with On Running that aims at supporting Black, Indigenous and Racialized folks to become confident trail runners realizing their full potential. Our goal is simple, yet needed. We advocate for inclusive representation in outdoor spaces, working with brand partners, businesses, and organizations to break barriers and create accessibility.

We are currently running the program for folks in proximity to Vancouver, however our trail running program leader has to step down due to other responsibilities. We are now looking for a program administrator and leader to run trail running in Vancouver area, Edmonton area, OR  Calgary area.

This application will ask questions about you and your interest in leading a trail running program. We encourage you to reflect on your personal experiences and use that to guide open and honest responses. Your responses will only be share with the team responsible for pairing participants.

The trail running leader will be responsible for finding mentors and/or assistant coaches to support the program; reviewing applications to select mentees; designing a 12 week curriculum divided into 6 running sessions (with routes planned by the trail running leader) and 6 lesson sessions (with lesson plans developed by the trail running leader). A knowledge of effective program design for adult learners will be helpful to be successful in this role.

As people have different credentials and experience, we cannot estimate the full scope of work that will be required until we see your application. That being said we do expect a fair amount of independence in program design and execution while Colour the Trails supports with marketing, administration, and program structure.

We were able to secure $2500 per each program. Compensation to the leads would depend on how much support with programming would be needed, which we will estimate after reviewing applicants submissions and chat in person. In addition we will try our best to equip leads with some On Running gear.

Applications will be reviewed and interviews scheduled by the end of April as our winter season is still extremely busy with programming.
