About the program
The Texoma National Association of Teachers of Singing High School Vocal Music Fellowship is designed to provide opportunity for student singers who meet all three of the following criteria:
1) Are high school juniors who possess a long-term goal to intensively study singing (such as majoring in vocal music in college)
2) Who would not otherwise have the financial means to pursue their goals in singing
3) Live in the states of New Mexico, Oklahoma, or Texas.
When awarded a fellowship, singers receive individual lessons with a professional voice teacher who is a member of NATS. Singers may also receive assistance with: technology for online lessons, scores and other materials, recorded accompaniment tracks, and National Student Audition fees.
An initial 15 lessons of study will be awarded to fellows. Up to two more 15 lesson terms of study (to be completed during the junior and senior year) may be awarded to the student, contingent on satisfactory progress as reported by the teacher. Students may also request assistance in preparation for the college application process and with application fees if they choose to continue their studies in music, dependent on the availability of funding.
