Project-Based Learning nearly always calls for students to employ their literacy skills independently as they research to extend their knowledge, develop solutions, and as they communicate with each other, the teacher, and authentic audiences. Many students, however, are not yet proficient with these skills. This can be a concern that causes teachers to shy away from PBL, worried that their students "are not ready." In this online synchronous session, we will explore the importance of PBL in supporting students' literacy development and ways to structure projects so that all students can participate in literacy-based learning. Participants will be guided through some planning steps so that new knowledge can be directly applied to existing projects or help guide future projects. Facilitated by emeritus PBLWorks National Faculty, Cheryl Dobbertin.

One semester hour of graduate credit is available for every two (2) full-day workshops you attend during Camp PBL. *

I would like to take this workshop and at least one more full-day workshop of my choice from Camp PBL to earn one-hour of Ashland graduate credit for an additional $249. Fairfield County teachers may purchase graduate credit for an additional fee of $195.
