Agora 2022 Conference Proposal
Use this form to submit a proposal to present a paper, presentation, or creative project at Agora, RDC's annual undergraduate student conference March 25-26, 2022.

The conference format:
Presentations will take place online this year. Presenters will be grouped into thematically-similar panels of 3-4 students based on their proposal submissions. Students are also welcome to organize their own panels of 3-4 students (see the last two questions on this form). Each panel will be paired with a faculty chair who will introduce each panelist and facilitate the question-and-answer period. Each presenter will have 10-15 minutes to present their work, after which there will be a question-and-answer session. The conference is free and open to the public. Friends, family members, and classmates are encouraged to attend.

Required
Optional: Enter 1-3 keywords that describe your paper/presentation (e.g., mindfulness, social media, meditation.) This will help the conference committee to organise the conference proposals into thematically-similar panels.
Bio: Enter a brief bio (max. 50 words). Your panel chair will use this bio to introduce you during the conference (as such, your bio should be written in the third-person). Things to include in your bio: your major, your year, research interests, plans for future study, any awards won, etc. Sample bio: Jane Doe is a second-year Communications major who is interested in studying social media and advertising. Jane plans to transfer to the University of Calgary next year to complete her degree. This is her second year presenting at Agora. *
Paper/Presentation/Project Abstract: Copy and paste your abstract here. Your abstract should be approximately 100-250 words in length. For a critical paper, you should introduce your topic and/or research question, state your thesis, explain how your paper will prove its thesis, summarize your findings and conclusions, etc. Essentially you are providing a summary of your paper. For a creative presentation, you should explain the project you plan to present: what genre you are working in, what your creative work is about, how long you will read for/how many pieces you will read, whether you will include anything else in your presentation (e.g., an explanation of your creative work). Please visit the following website for more information about writing conference abstracts: https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/graduate_writing/graduate_writing_genres/graduate_writing_genres_academic_proposals_new.html *
Individual or Panel submission? *
If your submission is part of a panel, please list the names of the other presenters on your panel. (Only answer this question if you chose Option 2 on the previous question.)
If you are submitting on behalf of a group in a project that has joint authorship, please include the names and emails of the other authors. (Only answer this question if you chose Option 3 above.)
Technological Considerations
This year's conference is happening entirely online through YouTube and Zoom. This means that presentations should PREFERABLY BE DONE LIVE to enable maximum interaction amongst presenters and with the audience. That being said, not everyone has the same technological capacity and comfort level with presenting on camera. The next two questions address issues related to technological issues that can differ amongst presenters.
