In het weekend van 24 and 25 september 2022 organiseert New Dutch Connections een speciale editie van Future Citizens Next Door in het kader van Utrecht 900 jaar. Het event is georganiseerd door en voor Utrechters en zet Utrecht op een feestelijke manier neer als kleurrijke mensenrechtenstad. We benadrukken dat Utrecht een stad is waar iedereen welkom is en niemand vergeten wordt!
Over Future Citizens Next Door
Future Citizens is een theaterserie met live muziek waarin je nieuwe Nederlanders, hun talenten en dromen ontmoet. In deze speciale editie vinden de voorstellingen plaats in de wijk/huiskamersetting in Utrecht. Op deze manier kunnen we mensen nog dichterbij elkaar brengen, de sociale cohesie in de wijk versterken en hun netwerk vergroten. Bij elke voorstelling wordt er een inspirerend verhaal verteld over een vluchteling met een succesvolle carrière, die al zijn/haar plek in Nederland gevonden heeft. Daarnaast geven we nieuwkomers ook zelf de mogelijkheid om het podium (in dit weekend een woonkamer) in te zetten op een wijze die verbindt en hun netwerk vergroot.

In the weekend of September 24th and 25th 2022, we are organising a special edition of Future Citizens Next Door in the context of Utrecht 900 years! The event is organised by and for people in Utrecht both for locals and newcomers. We emphasize that Utrecht is a city where everyone is welcome and no one is forgotten!
About Future Citizens Next Door
Future Citizens is a theater series with live music in which you meet new Dutch people (refugees), their talents and dreams. This time we will do this in a living room setting/in the neighborhood instead of in the theater. In this way we can bring people even closer together, strengthen social cohesion in the neighborhood and expand their network. With each performance, an inspiring story is told about a refugee with a successful career, who has already found his/her place in the Netherlands. With this we also give refugees themselves the stage (a living room this weekend) in a way that connects and expands their network. Together with professionals, refugees explore and translate their personal stories and social themes in an artistic way.
