My Bo'ness: A Climate and Environment Survey
The climate and ecological emergency poses significant risks to the conditions we all depend upon, but tackling it offers many opportunities to improve our quality of life, while shaping a town and surrounding area to be cleaner, greener, healthier, and fairer for everyone.

Forth Environment Link (FEL) is a Scottish environmental charity, based in the Forth Valley, leading the way on connecting people and place on actions which make a positive response to the Climate Emergency. We support more day-to-day journeys on foot or by bike; we encourage more local food to be grown and eaten in our communities; and we help increase the lifespan of our everyday items.

We are looking to develop and deliver My Bo'ness; a community-led climate action plan utilizing the 20 minute neighbourhood framework. 20 minute neighbourhoods' are places that are designed so residents can meet their day-to-day needs within a 20 minute walk of their home; through access to safe walking and cycling routes, or by public transport. For the purposes of this research, we'll be focussing primarily on Bo'ness town centre.

In order to do this, we need to hear from you! Your voice is what will help drive forward change and help to make your community a more sustainable, resilient, healthier, and happier place to live, work and play. My Bo'ness will act as a strategic roadmap, helping to inform policy and raise awareness of what matters to those who live in the community. We'll be teaming up with Sustainable Thinking Scotland, as well as local schools, Falkirk Council, community Councils, local businesses, and community groups to ensure we adequately represent this diverse community.

Why now? Climate change affects us all and in light of the recent pandemic, it is all the more important for communities to become empowered to take action on issues that affect them and their local environment. It is hoped that these plans will form an ever-evolving framework that can adapt and grow in a post-Covid landscape.

The following questions seek to tease out what you feel are the most pressing issues facing your community in light of climate change and within the context of the recent global pandemic. We want to find out what needs to be done in order to help make your community a safe and sustainable place for future generations to enjoy.

This questionnaire will be followed by a series of in-person consultation events around Bo'ness over the autumn months. Please leave a contact name and email address should you wish to recieve further information about the upcoming events including venues, dates and times.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to fill out this survey, your voice has been heard and your comments will help shape and inform a local community climate action plan for Bo'ness.
