Thank you for your services as a substitute teacher with the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools (WS/FCS) during the 2019-2020 school year. A substitute teacher, by definition, is a temporary position and employment is based on an as needed basis. The substitute teacher is an “at will” relationship with the school system, and either party can terminate the relationship at any time. According to NCGS 96-14.1(e), this is considered your reasonable assurance of continued employment for the upcoming academic year or term. Substitute Teachers serve a vital role in our program and we appreciate your willingness to serve in this capacity. You render an important and essential service for our school system.

This letter serves as notice at this time, it is our intent to employ you in the same capacity for the 2020-2021 school year. Should you wish to remain in this position, you must complete the form and submit it to the substitute office by June 15th, 2020. Be sure to inform us of address and phone number changes, or any changes made to your availability to serve as a substitute teacher. In order to maintain a current roster of substitutes, we require you to work at least 10 times a semester in order to maintain your active substitute status. If you do not submit your intent form or your status lapses to inactive we will consider you to have resigned your position as Substitute Teacher. Should you later wish to resume active status, it will be necessary for you to re-apply and participate in the pre-employment screening process to include orientation and other processes. As a reminder submitting an application does not guarantee employment.

The 2020-2021 substitute information including new pay dates and documents will be available after August 09, 2020. It is your responsibility to read this material. If you do not have web access, you can pick up a packet of 2020-2021 information from the receptionist in the front lobby of the administrative building after August 09, 2020.
