Mass NOW 2021-2023 Governance Board Application
Mass NOW is transitioning from a working-board model to a compensated Co Director model, and is accepting nominations for the Board of Directors. Board members serve on both the Mass NOW Inc and Mass NOW Foundation boards, which are fun-loving, multi-generational boards of committed, vibrant, passionate individuals.

We are committed to having at least 50% representation of women of color, and LGBTQIA+, youth and feminists from all corners of the Commonwealth are encouraged to apply. At our State Conference in March 2020 we will be voting on the following positions: Board President, Treasurer, VP of Governance, and four at-large board members.
 
Preferred Qualifications: Mass NOW Board Members will ideally have a background in fundraising, grassroots organizing and outreach. A strategic thinker with excellent communication, organization skills, and a commitment to intersectional feminism is a must.  
 
General Board Member Responsibilities:
--Consider yourself an ambassador of Mass NOW and advocate for the organization as frequently as possible.
--Be a current member of Mass NOW and attend Mass NOW events.
--Attend all Mass NOW board meetings, unless in the case of personal or family illness, or extenuating personal obligation. Board members are expected to participate in meetings in person or by phone (only when necessary), using fair, independent judgment, and due care in conducting the business of Mass NOW. Any more than two unexcused absences from Mass NOW board meetings will result in possible termination from the board.
--Remain on the Board for a term no less than 24 months.
--Collaborate with Co Directors to plan and implement the Feminist Affair, Mass NOW Foundation’s annual fundraising event in the fall.
--Develop relationships with major donors and build their leadership as donors to Mass NOW.

VP of Governance Responsibilities:
--Coordinate the revision and passage of bylaws;
--Help to craft and implement a new privacy policy;
--Provide consultation and advice on Feminist Affair issues, including silent auction, donor cultivation, and giving at all levels;
-Serve as at-large member of the boards, participating in decision-making related to all aspects of our work, including lobbying, staff decisions, fundraising, action, and membership;
--Assisting in renegotiation of contracts as the need arises;
--Help develop and implement board development as positions open.
--Coordinate with the Board President to submit and record all necessary state filings.

Time Commitment: 8-10 hours per month on average.  Attendance at monthly Mass NOW Inc. executive board meetings and bimonthly Mass NOW Foundation board meetings is required.
