Westfield State University, through the Center for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity (CURCA), is committed to supporting student-professional development through opportunities and funding to students participating in research or creative activity. We recognize the importance of student attendance at conferences and other professional activities may be prohibitive for some due to cost. This fund is intended to remove financial barriers that may hinder inclusive student participation and is solely intended to support students wanting to present/attend conferences or activities that are related to their applied research or creative activity. We will NOT support registration for professional society meetings or special interest meetings.
Funds may be used for conference registration fees, travel, accommodations, food, and printing of conference poster. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis through April 15, 2023 or until funds run out. The maximum amount requested may not exceed $250/student. Provide as much detailed information as possible for speedy approval of applications. Your faculty mentor must be made aware and approve your intent to submit a request.
In order to receive CURCA funds to present/attend at conferences, you will also agree to report on your conference experience within two weeks of attending AND present your work at the CURCA Celebration. A separate reporting link will be made available to you on our CURCA website. Feel free to contact Dr. Lamis Jarvinen, CURCA Director, with any questions:
