Thank you for your interest in the Dr. Frank S. Greene Scholars Program (GSP). Our mission is to help youth of African ancestry in San Francisco Bay Area communities successfully complete higher education in science, technology, engineering and/or math (STEM), and serve as positive role models and contributors to their communities.
The Greene Scholars Program is currently accepting applications for the upcoming academic year. Students must be of African ancestry, have a minimum grade point average of 2.75 (or equivalent if letter grades are not given at the student’s school), and must have demonstrated a strong aptitude in math and/or science. Space is available for rising 3rd and 4th graders, with limited availability for higher grades. Students entering 10th or a higher grade will not be eligible to enter the program. 2) You must submit the name and email of a reference to submit a letter on behalf of your student.
3) You must submit a grade report and headshot of your scholar, either at the time of submission via this form or email them by the deadline.
4) If invited, interviews are mandatory, and will be held in May/June 2023.
5) Our 1st mandatory annual parent meeting will take place on August 26th, 2023.
6) Your application will be interpreted as availability to meet the interview requirement and 1st annual meeting obligation as required of GSP members.
7) GSP requires 4 hours per month of volunteer participation by parents/guardians to deliver programming. Volunteer hours are tracked, and continued GSP membership is contingent on this requirement.
8) Monthly scholar sessions take place, usually in San Jose area.
