Wright County Historical Society's Festival of Trees Request - 2024
Welcome! We are excited for your participation in the Wright County Historical Society's 2024 Festival of Trees, which runs from Tuesday December 3, 2024 through Saturday, January 4, 2025.

This form is for individuals, families, groups and organizations to request a tree for decorating during the 2024 Festival of Trees.

All requests must be submitted through this online form, are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis by WCHS staff, and will be approved or denied through email.  Due to the increased number of requests staff can no longer take requests by phone or at the Heritage Center--we want to make sure no one's request gets lost in the holiday rush.

NEW for 2024! We anticipate having more requests than available trees. Please understand we will do our best to accommodate everyone who wants to decorate a tree and want to keep things fair for everyone, which may mean being asked to take a 'gap' year so someone else can participate.

Here are the specifics:

1. WCHS will provide you a 6.5' unlit green tree for your use. If you choose to bring in your own tree, please know that you will be limited to 7.5' tall and an appropriate width, and automatically be entered into the BOOSTED category.
2. You may be required to unbox and set up your tree (for PRIME category participants). This will depend on the amount of volunteers we have ahead of time. As set up is one of the most time-consuming parts of the Festival, if volunteers are limited you may need to do this on your own on your decoration day.
3. Please declare your category.
  • PRIME category is when we provide you an unlit, 6.5' green tree and you decorate it to your heart's content.
  • BOOSTED category is for those who want to bring in their own tree (7.5' maximum), create a base for the tree to elevate it up, additional interactives, etc that 'boost' the tree in a way other than most decorations provide. If you are unsure if your tree belongs in this category FOT staff will help.
  • Please note that FOT staff reserve the right to determine categories for all entries.
4. NO GLITTER. Christmas is glittery, we agree, but don't do it as glitter is infiltrating our collections.
5. BRING YOUR OWN LIGHTS, LED ONLY ARE REQUIRED. PLEASE. While some trees may have lights attached, please do not sure them as they are incandescent. Please do not remove existing lights from our trees. Plan to bring all your own ornaments, skirting, and any other decorations you wish to include on your tree.
6. Community decorating will take place between November 1-28, 2024 to allow WCHS staff to complete set-up of remaining trees, staging and all those little extras needed for the opening.
7. You must undecorate your tree within 10 days after the Festival of Trees closes, and take your decorations with you. WCHS regrets that we cannot store your decorations or be responsible for them if they are not picked up. Public tree decoration removal is Tuesday, January 7 - Wednesday, January 15, 2025.

Other important notes to make your tree the best ever:

1. This year's theme is TRADITIONS! How you interpret the theme--whether your family's heritage, a tradition within your own home, or a fun twist--is up to you. FOT staff ask you to consider incorporating the theme into your tree, however it is not required.
2. Please consider a new tree design each year. Some visitors have commented that they are disappointed some organizations put up the same tree year after year. If you need some help redesigning your tree with the same decorations please let us know and we can try and help!
3. Fluff your tree! There is a distinct difference between trees that have been fluffed and those that haven't. It's surprising what a few minutes straightening and separating branches will do! All your decorating hard work will be for nothing if you miss this step.
4. Don't wait until the last minute to decorate! After 17 years we've seen the crisis and chaos that evolves from last minute decorating--do yourself a favor and decorate as soon as is possible for you.
5. Let your imagination run wild! We can't wait to see your creative trees!

Thanks for your interest in decorating a tree for the Wright County Historical Society's 2024 Festival of Trees!
