IOCA(UK) British Nationals                                  Safety Fleet Rib Registration
Thank you for registering your RIB as part of the Safety Fleet.

Before the event the Safety Fleet is managed by the IOCA UK Safety Officer who will allocate signed up RIBS to appropriate roles in the event Safety Fleets. RIBs will be included in the Safety Fleet in the most efficient and economic way to manage the costs of the event.

Signing up a Crew and a RIB does not guarantee inclusion in the Safety Fleet. When the Crew and RIB allocation is completed, the Safety Fleets, Call Sign Sheet will be published on the event page. This is typically in the week prior to the event. RIBS will be crewed by one helm and one crew. Adding additional crew to a RIB can only be made with the agreement of Safety Control and the Principal Race Officer.

Safety Control will manage the Safety Fleet at the event, holding daily safety briefings to review weather conditions, local information and safety cover operating procedures and supervise the fleet on the water from launch to being stood down when all sailors are ashore.

When required, Safety Control has the authority to instruct all RIBS that comprise the Safety Fleet to operate as Safety RIBs.

The helm will need to be an experienced RIB helm with a minimum of an RYA Power Boat Level 2 certificate, VHF Licence and in addition, it is desirable for the helm to have an RYA Safety Boat certificate. It is also desirable for RIB crew to hold RYA Powerboat and Safety Boat certificates and a VHF Licence.

IOCA UK will pay expenses for RIBs included in the event Safety Fleet as set out in the IOCA UK Expense Policy. Claims that are made late, may not be paid.

The Safety Fleets will be operated at all times as set out in the IOCA UK Major Event Instructions 2022 section 23. SUPPORT VESSELS AND SUPPORT PERSONS and the event Supplementary Sailing Instructions.

All communications preceding and during the event will be on the Safety Fleet Telegram App. Please make sure you and your crew have joined using this link: https://t.me/+VHI7g0TAUuY5NzVk

Other information may be posted on the safety fleet WhatsApp group (this will not be used during the event): https://chat.whatsapp.com/H6OlzVzuDKu4VY0ZEnxZai
