Junior Teacher Application
If you would like a hard copy of the Aspire Junior Teacher Application please contact Arianne Thomas at athomas@hb.edu.

Application Deadline:  March 21, 2022  Interviews will be conducted the last week of March.

The Junior Teachers (JTs) at The Aspire Program teach and mentor middle school students, assist with supportive tasks, and collaborate regarding teaching, students, and programming. JTs bring creative ideas and a great deal of energy to Aspire.

JTs assist with a multitude of tasks such as greeting students upon their arrival and helping to coordinate morning meetings, lunch, bulletin board messages, attendance, etc. JTs are also involved in planning events for the entire student body, specifically the Aspire Olympics and Love Your Body Day.

JTs plan and lead Activity periods at Aspire.  Activity periods at Aspire offer students experiences in visual or performing arts, team-building, problem-solving, leadership, and sports and games. JTs develop, plan, and teach activity periods for their assigned grade level. Examples of activity periods are blindfolded soccer, art collages, poetry sharing, and grab bag skits.

JTs also develop, plan, and teach up to three choice periods per week. Choice periods are 30-minute classes that give girls the opportunity to explore topics and ideas that are not typically offered in middle schools.  Examples of choice periods are nature walks, salsa making, sketching and coloring, yoga, and media literacy.

Other responsibilities as necessary.

JTs must work the entire session, Monday-Friday, 8:15 am-4:30 p.m., June 13-July 26, 2022.   Aspire will be off for June 20th and July 4th.  Attendance at two or three evening events during the summer is also required (even if remote).
