HLCS Middle School: Remembrance Day Ceremony and the No Stone Left Alone Project

To Parents/Guardians:

On Monday, November 8th, the middle school students will be traveling to Robinson Memorial Park Cemetery in Coquitlam to hold a Remembrance Day ceremony and take part in a unique remembrance ceremony organized by the No Stone Left Alone Memorial Foundation (NSLA). NSLA is a Canadian non-profit organization that strives "to honor the sacrifice and service of Canada's military by educating students and placing poppies on the headstones of veterans every November." The students and staff will participate in a ceremony at the cemetery (similar to our Remembrance Day services), place a wreath at the cenotaph, and lay poppies on the veteran's headstones.

We are in need of parent drivers to make this special event happen. Please note for all parent drivers you will need the full Volunteer Driver package (including a CRC if you are driving children other than your own) submitted to one of the school offices.

**Parents will also need to sign a STUDENT RELEASE FORM that was sent home with students today. Please read it carefully before deciding to sign. If you do not give consent for photos, please return the form with a note on it stating this fact.

Hope Lutheran Christian School requires each student participating in a field trip to receive the written consent from their parent(s)/guardian(s) in order to participate. In addition, the school seeks to advise parent(s)/guardian(s) of potential risks of injury associated with the field trip activity.  Field trips are a part of the school program and provide students with valuable learning experiences. If you chose not to permit your child to participate in this field trip, the school will provide alternate supervision for the student at their grade campus.
