FHHS JROTC APPLICATION
Congratulations. You son/daughter has expressed interest in enrolling the United States
Army Junior Reserve Officer’s Training Corps (JROTC) Program which prepares high
school students for leadership roles while making them aware of their rights and
responsibilities as good American citizens. You can be proud that they want to be a
part of this very special group of students interested in improving themselves,
their leadership skills, and their community.

Instruction is conducted two periods each day. Classroom instruction focuses on
leadership, communication, organization, physical fitness, health, motivation, and civic
responsibility. Leadership lab focus on Physical Fitness training and Drill and Ceremony
skills augmented with weekly sports. Leadership Lab is a required class in place of their
physical Education Class. Cadets will be provided a free military uniform that must be worn
to school one day each week and on special occasions – such as community parades and
formal ceremonies. Classes are taught by a retired US Army Officer and a retired
Noncommissioned Officer. Both Instructors are certified by NYC, NY State, and US Army.

JROTC stresses teamwork. The program is designed to promote individual growth and
development by stressing self-discipline, self-confidence, values, and respect. Students that
understand and apply lessons learned in JROTC are better prepared for life and have a
greater probability for success in any future endeavor.

Participation the program DOES NOT obligate the cadet to join the military. It will provide
your son/daughter with invaluable leadership and followership training that they can
translate to a chosen filed. While there is no initial charge for participation in the program,
your cadet is responsible for keeping the issued uniform neat and clean.

If you are not pleased with the program or the results achieved, you may withdraw your
student upon their completion of one year of JROTC. Regrettably, some cadets do not
adhere to the established standards of academic achievement, performance, appearance,
and/or acceptable behavior. These cadets may be dismissed at any time by the Senior/Army
Instructor. Cadets are required to return their uniform cleaned.

To enroll your son/daughter and observe their learning, growth, and development as it
occurs in this beneficial leadership program, please complete the application on the back of
the letter and return it to the JROTC Office.
