Solar Tax Protest Interest Form
Thank you for joining UAB Green Initiative in our protest against the solar tax fee, an unfair $5.41-per-kilowatt monthly charge imposed by Alabama Power on customers who install and use solar panels.

With over 213 days of sunshine each year, Alabama ranks 13th in the most raw solar power potential, yet we have less rooftop solar than other southern states, falling far behind our neighbors Georgia, South Carolina, etc. At the same time, we have the 2nd highest residential electricity bills while Alabama Power happens to be one of the wealthiest utility companies in the nation despite our state being in the bottom five of all 50 states and D.C. for GDP per capita. Thus, Alabama Power is directly profiting off the poor and has no plans to increase solar energy investment until 2041. This is a sustainability, social justice, and economic issue.

It's time to put Alabamians before Alabama Power. Join us this Friday, April 14th from 1 to 3 pm outside of Alabama Power headquarters (carpool from UAB is provided if needed).
Address: 1802 6th Ave N., Birmingham, AL 35203.
