INTRODUCTION: At then end of our Gospel lesson, we briefly mentioned the "Real Presence." So what is the Real Presence? The Real presence is when the bread and wine truly become the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, through the power of the Holy Spirit, at Mass. Through the power of his words and the working of the Holy Spirit, Jesus is made present. At the Last Supper, Jesus took bread and said, "This is my Body!" Then he took the wine and said, "This is my Blood." Jesus keeps his promises. That is why the priest takes bread and wine, just as Jesus did at the Last Supper, and says the words of Jesus over them. Then the bread is no longer bread, but the Body of Christ. The wine is no longer wine, but the Blood of Christ. What we eat looks like bread, but it is Jesus who comes to us. What we drink looks like wine, but again, it is Jesus.
