The Place of Chemistry in a Doughnut Economy

The Royal Society of Chemistry’s Environmental Chemistry Group is organising an event titled "The Place of Chemists in a Doughnut Economy", to be held place at the RSC Burlington House, Piccadilly, on May 17th 2024 from 11am to 4.30pm.

The overarching theme of the event revolves around exploring ways to meet the needs of society while staying within the ecological boundaries of our planet. We are particularly interested in how chemists, can collaborate with other experts, communities and policymakers in order to engage with and actively contribute to this crucial mission. The format of the event will include provocations from five keynote speakers in the morning, followed by a workshop session in the afternoon where attendees will engage in a case study exercise, fostering collaboration and the exchange of ideas on how systems thinking can drive positive change.

We are hoping to have environmental and other chemists at the event but also policymakers, engaged communities,  industry leaders (petro, pharma, chemical...), climate change and system thinking academics, and anyone who feel they might contribute...

Because of the workshop nature of the events, attendance will be limited to 40 people. At this stage we are inviting you to submit an Expression of Interest (EoI). Selection will be based on your answers to the two questions below and on balancing diversity in the room.
