Thank you for your interesting in being a volunteer! Our volunteers are critical in ensuring a smooth World Congress, and we look forward to having you on the team. Below is some information explaining the duties of volunteers
Duties of
chairs: Welcome participants & introduce papers, keep time of presentations, read and give comments on presenters' research, take audience questions
Duties of
moderators: Welcome participants & introduce papers, keep time of presentations, take audience questions
Duties of discussants: Read and give comments on presenters' research
Duties of logistical volunteers: Show students to which rooms they need to go to, answer questions, set-up/clean-up, run an occasional errand, etc.
- Volunteers who are not presenting their research do not pay for their tickets, but they are required to purchase a membership. You can observe and participate in panels, trips, and lectures, but you may not present any research. We do not cover the cost of food/housing for volunteers.
- NOTE: Volunteers who are presenting their papers are still required to pay the full price for their tickets and membership.
- In-person chair/moderator/discussant volunteers are required to volunteer for at least 2 panels. We may not necessarily place you in 2 panels, but you need to be available in case we need you to be. Volunteers who are presenting their research are only required to volunteer for at least 1 panel.
- In-person logistical volunteers must be available for 2 full days of logistical assistance. We may not necessarily need you for 2 days and will schedule you in-advance, but keep your availability open to 2 days until we say otherwise. You must be willing to step in if we need an emergency volunteer.
- NOTE: We will only have 1 day of virtual panels, and that will take place on May 17, 2023 from 8AM ET - 5PM ET. If you can not attend on this day, then you can not be a virtual volunteer.
