The Gender-Based Violence Prevention Evaluation Framework (GBV PEF) (protection.interaction.org/focus-areas/gbvpef/) is a set of guiding approaches aimed at helping practitioners make better decisions in their analysis, program design, and measurement such that GBV prevention outcomes can ultimately be evaluated. It is built on the foundation of the Results-Based Protection (protection.interaction.org) framework developed by InterAction and endorsed by a broad set of humanitarian actors, including international non-governmental organizations, ICRC, and international organizations.

This form is for practitioners who are using, or plan to use, the GBV PEF and who seek direct technical support at some point between October 2022-March 2023.* InterAction has a small pool of funds to facilitate direct technical support (i.e., not financial or other support), to teams who are in need of it. Depending on the topic of the request, technical support (in-person or virtual) may be provided by InterAction staff and/or expert consultants. Technical support could take many shapes including consultation(s), a one-time tailored workshop, training, or material support (i.e., reviewing internal documents, such as M&E frameworks or indicator development, and providing advice or support for revisions). This could take place in a short timeframe, or in a more ongoing manner, depending on the request and available resources.

If you/your team is using any of the methodologies within the GBV PEF, or plan to, to prevent GBV or protection risks in a conflict setting or with conflict-affected communities, you are eligible to request technical support. Please ensure your request is submitted no later than Friday, September 9th, 2022. InterAction will assess your request against a list of criteria that were developed and endorsed by the GBV PEF Advisory Committee and will let all applicants know no later than September 30th, 2022, whether InterAction can provide technical support.

All organizations using the GBV PEF present a learning opportunity for InterAction and others. Over the next two years (until March 2024), InterAction will be collecting and distilling key learning from teams using the framework across different conflict settings. This will help us understand what works, what barriers exist, and how we can improve the evaluation framework. If you/your team is selected to receive technical support, you have a great opportunity to contribute to this learning phase. To receive support from InterAction, you/your organization must be willing to share key project documents with InterAction to ensure the best possible support. Please note, that documents and other sensitive information will not be shared externally without your explicit consent. In addition, you must be willing to allow InterAction staff to document your use of the GBV PEF during and after direct support. InterAction will also encourage your relevant team members to engage regularly within InterAction’s GBV PEF Community of Practice (via an online forum and regular calls) to share learning and updates with the group.

If you have questions about the request for technical support or the GBV PEF, please contact Jessica Lenz (jlenz@interaction.org), Senior Technical Advisor for Protection at InterAction.
