Camper Application | Summer 2024

Greetings from Camp Carefree! Below is our application to be completed to determine your child’s eligibility for our 2024 Summer Session. Please select the week that is best associated with your child’s condition. Campers are only allowed to apply for one session. We may ask that your child move to  different session due to space limitations. Please complete a different form for each child who wishes to attend Camp.

Camp Carefree provides a free one-week summer session to children ages 6-16 who may not qualify for other summer camps. Our campers are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Attendance in the past is not a guarantee of acceptance. These applications are reviewed upon receipt of this form AND THE REQUIRED MEDICAL FORMS. (download them HERE.) You will be notified once our program directors and medical team has determined your child’s eligibility. Camp sessions fill up quickly so please return your applications as soon as possible. Make sure to have the medical form completed by your child’s health care provider.  As of Summer 2024, we are strongly recommending Covid vaccinations, however they are not required to attend camp this year.

We must stress that our camp is limited to campers who are excluded from other overnight summer camps due to their medical needs that require medical personnel during their attendance. We cannot accommodate children with severe behavioral issues. We also offer sessions to the siblings of our campers attending one of our other four sessions, or who have lost a sibling who previously attended one of these sessions. We also provide a session for kids whose parents suffer from chronic, terminal, or debilitating conditions. Extended family and friends are not allowed. Please review our summer sessions to determine if your child will fit into one of these sessions before applying.

PLEASE NOTE: Camp Carefree’s number one priority is camper safety. Our organization does not tolerate any bullying and/or violence. Failure to avoid these behaviors will result in a child being sent home immediately. Campers are discouraged from calling home; we have found that it does not help homesickness. Our counselors are experienced with helping campers adjust to being away from home. Camp is a great growing experience! Instead of calling, we encourage campers to write home. Any letters from family and friends are delivered to campers daily - campers love to get mail from home! Parents are welcome to contact the MedShed to check on their camper during the week of their attendance. Campers are not allowed to have cell phones while at camp. Phones, iPads/tablets should be left at home.

REGISTRATION: Campers check in between 2pm and 4pm on Sunday. (Please note that we hold a staff meeting each Sunday until 2 pm, so early arrivals will have to wait for registration to begin). During registration you will stop in the Med Shed to review your child’s medical form, especially allergies, medications, and parent/guardian emergency contact information. Prescription medication must include the original packaging/labeling from the pharmacy.

PICK UP: Campers can be picked up from camp between 3pm and 5pm on Friday. Campers MUST be picked up by 5pm (Please do not be late as our staff leaves at 5pm). Make sure to collect your camper’s medications or Med Shed supplies before leaving.

We look forward to receiving your child’s application and hope to see you this summer!  Please allow us approximately 2-3 weeks to process your application.
