Da Vinci Science: Online Absence Reporting 23-24
Please complete this form to report your child's absence. If your child misses school for a doctor's appointment, please provide a doctor's note for your child so that their absence can be excused. If they miss 3 or more consecutive school days, please provide a doctor's note on the 4th consecutive day. An absence must be cleared within 5 days. If you don't contact us regarding your child's absence, it will be recorded as unexcused.

If a student leaves campus without getting an Off-Grounds pass or the parent/guardian does not sign them out, the absence will be counted as unexcused. All reported absences will be verified by the DVS Attendance Manager. Please check PowerSchool to verify that all absences have been cleared.

Reports of students leaving early are not accepted online, absolutely no exceptions! Your student must be signed out by a parent/guardian. If a student is 18 years old, a parent/guardian can request a Student Sign-Out form from Brittany, the Attendance Manager.

Tardies are only excused with a medical/dental note provided by the facility. Each note must be submitted to the Attendance Office within 5 school days.

Regular Attendance Is Essential for Learning
Regular attendance is critical to your child's education. Disruptions to your child's school attendance can have a significant impact on his or her academic performance. Both the California Administration Code and the Education Code state that every pupil must attend school regularly. When a child is excessively absent, a parent-teacher-student conference will be held. If the problem continues, a parent-administrator-student conference will be scheduled. Excessive absences may result in referral to the School Attendance Review Board (SARB). Your child should attend school consistently and should be absent only for illness or emergencies. Please do not schedule extended family vacations during school time.
What to Do If Your Child Is Going to Be Absent
Fill out the Report an Absence Online form and hit submit. This is the easiest and most efficient way to report your child's absence. Please provide the Health Office with a note from your physician indicating the diagnosis and releasing your child to return to school. A child who was absent due to a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea must be symptom-free for 24 hours before returning to school. If your child has been absent due to a lice outbreak, please have him/her meet with the Health Clerk before returning to class. Please notify the school of any anticipated absence due to out-of-town trips, family emergencies, or medical or dental appointments.
