Greater Opportunities is continually seeking professional and compassionate individuals for the position of Direct Support Professional in our Supported Living Services, Independent Living Services (ILS, SLS) and Day Programs. We are a growing company and the more people we hire, the more individuals we serve. Santa Clara County has nearly 16,000 individuals eligible to receive services like ours.

Friendly Personality - Building relationships with the individuals you support is a vital component of being a valued support worker. Therefore, having a friendly and supportive nature with a positive outlook on life is essential for the role.

Passion/Motivation - Being passionate about encouraging and supporting people to live their best life is what we are all about. As an employee of Greater Opportunity, you would need to demonstrate an ability to be creative and open minded as you assist people towards achieving their goals.

Resilience is a must in the disability sector. We all have our good and bad days and the ability to remain calm and supportive is inherent.

Flexibility - As we provide person-centered support for individuals, shifts will vary in length and time so an ability to be flexible is also a must. Shifts may also vary from one-to-one support in the community, supporting people in their own homes and working in a residential or community access setting.

Multitasking - Be able to wear more than one hat i.e. buddy, cheerleader, teacher, cook, secretary, gaming pal, champion, coach, student, sidekick, guide, assistant, advocate...

Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, DSP's provide services directly to people with different abilities in their own homes or at our Day Program. Individual's goals and levels of support are determined jointly by the individuals receiving services and their friends, family members, partners (circles of support).

We have full time and part time opportunities available, including weekends and overnights.
