Registration for the Workshop: Open Science Skills in R
Register below for the upcoming Open Science Skills in R workshops series at Mount Allison University. The workshops occur from 5:00 to 6:30 PM on the following dates:

1. Wens 29 Jan 2025
2. Wens 5 Feb 2025
3. Wens 12 Feb 2025

Each workshop builds on the skills introduced in the previous workshop. The workshops are:

Welcome and Introduction a Tidy Workflow: In this session, we will make sure everyone is set-up with the software (R, RStudio, LaTex),  and R packages that will be made use during this workshop series. We will guide and provide support as needed during the installation process. We will also discuss and practice "tidy" project and data management strategies, as well as tidy coding practices. These are skills that will help in with organization for your research project, collaborations, and ensuring transparency and broad impact.

Git with It:  In this session, we will help everyone get set up to use Git with R. Git is a version control tool that will help you implement the "tidy" project and data management strategies discussed in the first workshop. We'll cover creating a repository, tracking your changes, exploring the history of a project, and collaborating in GitHub. You'll leave with an understanding of how you can track changes with Git, share your work with GitHub, reuse open code, and contribute to open projects.

Reproducible Scientific Writing in R: All the skills from previous workshops will come together in this last session. We will show you how you can write a paper with figures, citations, tables, and chapters, all within R – no more copying and pasting between different platforms! After learning how to create PDFs from R, you will learn how to build all the parts of a paper or thesis. This includes a table of contents, figure captions, a list of figures, and more. You will also have opportunities to work with us on customizing your paper in the freeform period afterwards.

There is an option to attend the last workshop online or in-person, but the others will be in-person only. Please see where to indicate your preference for attendance below.

You will be emailed the end of Monday 27 Jan 2025, if you were successfully enrolled in the course and with further instructions. There is a cap on the room size, so not everyone who signs up may be able to attend. It will be first come, first serve.
