2022 TMI - VEX Curriculum EN Journaling Exercise (96 pts/8 pts each)
The Engineering Notebook is an important requirement in the BEST competition as well as in work-place situations.  A team—especially in STEM-- must plan, reflect, and communicate on all activities in a project.

In order to help you assimilate the VEX EDR Curriculum (https://curriculum.vexrobotics.com/curriculum.html) material you are reading we want you to think and journal about the sections listed below in your pre-class work. Then, consider topics that need further clarification/discussion in class.

Please answer the following questions  by Friday, July 8 at 1:00 PM.

1. Unit 1: Introduction to Engineering, Section 1.6, #4:  How does having constraints placed on a design change the engineering process?
2. Unit 2: Introduction to Robotics, Section 2.4, #3: How does the installation of sensors improve the functioning of the robot?
3. Unit 3: Introduction to VEXnet, Section 3.6, #2: Explain how the VEXnet works.
4. Unit 5: THE GAME, Section 5.7, #3: How do you choose what features of the robot are needed to play the game?
5. Unit 6: Object Manipulation, Section 6.7, #1: Why would you choose one type of a manipulator over another type?
6. Unit 7: Speed, Power, Torque & DC Motors, Section 7.7, #2:  Why would you want to increase your power and lower your speed?"
7. Unit 9: Drivetrain Design, Section 9.7, #1: How can you use friction to your advantage when you create your robot drivetrain?"
8. Unit 10: Lifting Mechanisms, Section 10.9, #1: Explain how the degrees of freedom will allow you to design a robot that is able to transfer motion as it manipulates game objects.
9. Unit 11:  Systems Integration, Section 11.4, #2: How does the integration of system engineering early in the design process provide benefits to the overall design?
10. Unit 12: Testing and the iteration Process, Section 12.2, no question#: What are some of the items to consider to approach improvements? and why is this process iterative?
11. List three terms and definitions presented in any of the sections that you found either simply stated for your students or that helped you understand the topic?
