When Autumn comes to life. The floating leaves falling, the vivid colours of golds, browns, reds, greens. The fragile nature of organic matter as it becomes a skeleton of itself. The textures, some soft, some fragile, others being rough and decaying, creating patterns and evoking emotions.
In my workshop this is an opportunity to capture some of those Autumn qualities combined with the ethos of Reuse, Recycle, Re-purpose, and Rethink, wrapped up in an atmosphere of fun and joyful learning and creativity.
You will have a choice of one of three things to create: "Falling Autumn" . Recycling a large glass jar. This will encase a miniature Autumn tree (using fallen twigs and branches) with falling leaves made from book and magazine pages. It is lead by your imagination as to how your vision of this tree will evolve.
"My Autumn". Using fabric scraps, buttons and threads, you will create a leaf brooch. Your inner seamstress can unleash its creativity, layering leaves, hand sewing and embellishing.
"Autumn Spiral". A representation of falling leaves made by using a wire spiral as the foundation for you to weave, wind, thread your own Autumn magic. Using recycled and re-purposed materials from scrap fabrics, odd bits of yarn and wool and plenty of imagination. I will demonstrate the foundation of each item and then as you choose which one you will make, I will guide and help you as you need it.
Materials are provide but you must bring three very essential things 1. A sense of adventure, 2. Fun and 3. laughter
