We, the undersigned, in an effort to achieve health equity, strongly support universal, single-payer healthcare.

The COVID-19 pandemic has made historical health inequities impossible to ignore and has shown the necessity for a movement toward universal coverage for all artists, and in particular, all members of Actors' Equity Association, regardless of employment status.

We believe that union support of state-level, single-payer healthcare legislation is an integral first step to the passage of a nationwide system. There are currently 18 states with single-payer legislation in progress, including California, Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Washington.

To this end, we strongly urge the release of a resolution from Actors' Equity Association leadership supporting all state-based single-payer legislative initiatives.
