Position Description: The Publications Editor facilitates written communications for educational, fun and professional pieces on an array of topics. With full creative-license, the editor’s goal is to increase chapter visibility and highlight the amazing contributions of our talented members. In addition, by featuring alumni and working professionals, the editor will engage with the working community to increase visibility in media communications, through our PRSSA website and on appropriate social media channels—such as LinkedIn.
Minimum Experience: Six months of leadership experience, completion of upper-division communications, PR and writing classes. Journalism, English and technical writing classes/internships with related experience is encouraged. PRSSA International and Regional Conference experience is preferable. In addition, the editor must be in good academic standing (2.5 GPA), receive an overwhelming vote of confidence from their peers and be an active chapter member. This role is designed for a thought leader, problem solver and creative thinker.
Time Commitment: This leadership role has a minimum of 2-4 hours of professional development stewardship communications and participation every week. This may increase due to events, conferences, or initiatives, but is manageable by prioritization, organization and delegation. This does not include meetings.
Publications Editor Responsibilities:
- Responsible for four placements in PRSSA blog, Progressions
- Oversee AP style of newsletter, member blogs, website and important communications
- Write “evergreen” quick blogs, LinkedIn or Facebook posts to engage with community each month
- Work with outlets including PRWeek, PRSA SV and more for stories
- Write blog posts and feature stories about alumni, events or conferences (Bi-monthly)
